Everyone at the Minehead Branch is an unpaid volunteer. We all work from our own homes, and usually meet up at fundraising events, although we do keep in touch by phone and email.

Minehead Branch are looking for one or two new fosterers to join the team, to help us to rescue and rehome even more cats. Our fosterers have specially provided pens in their gardens, so it's important that you have a private and secure back garden. You would be collecting the cats from the vets, and taking them there for vaccinations and other treatments, so it's important that you have access to transport. You would also be talking to prospective new owners, filling in the homing forms, and liaising with the Treasurer, the Homing Officer, our volunteer photographer, and the PR Officer on homings, so it's important that you are organised, good at keeping to deadlines, and a team worker. Of course, the most important qualification is that you love cats, and are able to care for those that need help, and then willingly let them go to their new homes.

What our volunteers do.
Admin, vehicle management, homing cats, collecting donated goods, taking cats to the vets, organising fundraising events, fostering, home visiting, distributing posters, delivering cat food and litter to fosterers, distributing leaflets, managing the website, setting up stalls at fundraising events, talking to the public, loading the cars for fundraising events, taking photographs, helping on stalls, helping in the kitchen at fundraising events, making handcrafted items to sell, sending out press releases, liaising with the National Cat Centre, talking to prospective new volunteers, tidying the donated goods store, storing goods for sale at home, wrapping Lucky Dip prizes, organising and running their own stall, eBaying, facepainting, hand rearing kittens, running the Facebook page, collating homing packs, giving talks, organising Gift Aid, keeping the books, managing the waiting list, maintaining and repairing equipment, sending information out in response to queries from the public, driving to events ...

Fancy it? Got an idea for fundraising or publicising our work? Let us know.

Volunteers are always very welcome!

As you can see - if you want to join us, there are lots of jobs to do!  This really is just a selection of what goes on at Minehead & District Cats Protection. If you would like to help then please telephone the branch on 01643 653053 for further details or contact us using the form here
